Internet Server Monitor
Firewall Support
Using Internet Server Monitor through Firewalls and over Wide Area Networks
Internet Server Monitor uses Microsoft's WMI API to monitor CPU, memory and Windows Services.
All other monitors use TCP or UDP to monitor the network servers.
Most corporate environments have firewalls installed that block remote WMI and Windows Networking traffic.
Internet Server Monitor can still be used to monitor firewalled subnets and remote sites.
In order to run in these environments, the System Administrator can install
Internet Server Monitor at each remote site and assign remote alerts such as email and SMS to each monitor.
All other monitors use a single TCP or UDP port and can be configured at the firewall to pass traffic.
