Corner Bowl Log Manager
Event Log, Syslog and Text Log File Analysis

8 years ago when Corner Bowl Log Manager (previously Network Event Viewer) was first envisioned our primary goal was to create an analysis tool that could merge multiple Event Logs into a single view. This functionality remains as an invaluable tool when troubleshooting and auditing applications and user actions. Since then we have added Syslog and text log file management. We have also added countless features that will enable you to more easily find, flag, and comment on critical entries.

Event Log, Syslog and Text Log File Viewers

Corner Bowl Log Manager includes both real-time and static views of Event Logs, Syslogs and text log files. The real-time viewers display the latest entries as they are written to the logs while the static viewers load a chunk of entries called a page from the log repository. Paging enables the software to load extremely large logs while minimizing load time, CPU load and memory load. The viewer includes support to search, filter, sort, group by columns (for example, Source, Category, Facility, etc.), flag, include notes, export to file, print and email. Both the Event Log viewer and Syslog viewer enable you to merge consolidated logs from multiple sources into a single view.

Complex Filters

Many logs contain hundreds of thousands of entries. Corner Bowl Log Manager's powerful filtering searches through Event Logs, Syslogs and text log files allowing you to pinpoint entries of interest or remove noise. Create both easy to implement simple filters as well as and complex filters. Complex filtering allows for AND, OR, NOT, and multi level criteria and includes support for regular expression driven filter criteria. Simplify the filter creation process by right clicking on an entry and appending the entry to an existing filter or creating a new filter.

Flags and Notes

In many cases, you may want to flag an entry for later review. The log viewer enables you to simply click on an entry and flag it in much the same way popular email clients work. Per user requests, a notes field was added enabling you to save comments with each entry. Using simple filters, you can search and view all flagged entries.

The Data Component

Unlike the Windows Event Viewer, the data component of each Event Log entry can be displayed in HEX, ASCII, or Unicode format.

Scheduled Reports

Corner Bowl Log Manager enables you to data mine previously downloaded or saved log entries called consolidated logs and create various types of reports on-demand or at a scheduled frequency. For example, you can receive a daily report that contains a list of all failed logon attempts to your domain controllers within the last 24 hours. Reports contain specific computers, logs, and filtered entries of interest automating the data mining process. Once configured, reports enable you to open Corner Bowl Log Manager and with just a single click, view specific logs and entries of interest. When automatically generated, reports can be emailed and output to your intranet web site. Report content is fully customizable through our email and HTML templates.
